Dr Rym Fayala UNFPA Tunisia Assistant representative

As a part of its mandate and transformational 2030 goals of zero preventable maternal deaths, zero Family planning unmet needs and zero violence against women and girls, UNFPA continues to support Tunisia in its advocacy programs to fulfill sexual and reproductive health and rights, combating violence against women and analyzing population dynamics.

The national and regional reviews of the ICPD at the end of 2018, provided an opportunity for Tunisia in Accra and Beirut to renew its commitment to the Cairo Conference Action Plan and its link with the SDGs.

The last period of 2018, was marked by the validation of the maternal and neonatal health strategy for the period 2019-2023, and the validation of the multi-sectoral strategy for adolescent and youth health, both developed under the leadership of the Ministry of Health.

As a part of the Moussawat program, throughout 2018, we were able to help more than 1300 women victims of violence (WVV) through the civil society organizations centers and supported the capacity building across the country, of more than 600 actors from the governmental and non-governmental sectors. A multi-channel campaign #Kifek_Kifha deployed throughout Tunisia, was the opportunity to target men, boys and adults by drawing their social representations of violence against women.

To leave no one behind, different actions have been implemented to promote the rights of migrants, sex workers, transgender population and people living with HIV through data collection, knowledge generation and improving access to sexual and reproductive health services for these populations.

UNFPA Tunisia will continue its commitment in 2019, to concretize partnerships and implement its mandate for the benefit of all people living in Tunisia.
